Shortbread
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb Very dry flour
- 4 ozs Butter
- 6 ozs Sugar
- 1 tsp Cream
- 1tbsp Sweet almonds
- 1 pinch Ammonia
- 1 pinch Salt
Method
Bake for one hour
Ingredients
- 1/4 lb Butter
- 2 ozs Caster sugar
- 1 dsp Rice flour
- 1 Heaped cup Ordinary flour
Method
Beat butter and sugar to a cream, then mix in rice flour, then ordinary flour. Knead well together on baking board, flatten to about 1/2 inch thickness. Mark edge with finger and thumb then mark top with a fork. Put on white paper. See that the oven is pretty hot before putting in gradually cooling it. Bake to a light brown, when taken from the oven it will be soft but will harden when cold.
