Date and Almond Cake
Ingredients
- 21/2 cupfuls Flour (4ozs)
- 6 ozs Dates
- 1 cup water
- 5 ozs Marge
- 1 oz Almonds
- 1 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
- 3 ozs Soft brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp Mixed spice
- 1 dsp Milk
- pinch of salt
Method
Stone and chop dates. Put into saucepan with marge, sugar, water, and spice. Bring to boil and simmer ?? minutes. Allow to cool. Add salt to flour and sieve into bowl. When Mixture is cool dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in the milk, add the flour to the liquid ingredients and stir in the bicarbonate of soda a quickly as possible.
